Our History

The USP Polytechnic School Blockchain Study Group (Polichain), formerly known as Nabla, was founded in late 2021 by undergraduate students with the aim of deepening blockchain studies.

One of the main motivations was the lack of clarity between terms used by both media and market. Therefore, we decided that it would be a study group.

Institutional Support

Since the beginning, the group has had support from UBRI (University Blockchain Research Initiative) through professors:

  • • Bruno Albertini
  • • Antonio M. Saraiva

UBRI is an initiative of Ripple Labs Inc., a North American company behind the homonymous cryptocurrency (Ripple, trading code XRP) and technologies such as XRP Ledger.

Our Activities

Hackathons

In these intensive programming events, participants have 56 hours to create a functional prototype, going through the phases of idea, product, and code. This is definitely when the group is most active.
